Brittany + Anthony | An Elopement at the Historic Dekalb County Courthouse | Decatur, Georgia

FILED IN: Weddings

When I photographed Brittany and Anthony’s engagement session about a year ago, they wanted to book me for their wedding, but the only problem was . . . they didn’t know when the wedding would be! Circumstances involving Brittany still living outside of the country were delaying their wedding planning, and they weren’t sure when they would be able to finally get married. So I was surprised when Brittany texted me out of the blue in December saying that they were heading to the DeKalb County Courthouse to elope in the judge’s chambers NEXT WEEK! Of course I said yes when she asked me to come photograph it!

The ceremony inside the judge’s chambers was super quick (and very cramped) so as soon as the vows were said and the rings were exchanged, we headed outside to take their official wedding portraits. You can’t ask for a better backdrop than the Historic DeKalb County Courthouse! The setting was made even more magical by the Christmas decorations. Even though it was dark and raining the entire time, you can’t even really tell in these photos! And clear bubble umbrellas are super cute even without any rain!

I’m so glad these two found me over a year ago and that I was able to capture their elopement for them after waiting to hear about their wedding plans since their engagement session. And I’m even happier that they have finally gotten to be together where they belong!
